Years ago we were told as children and adults that it was important to keep flashlights, batteries and candles with your first aid supplies in case the power went out. In those days we all made sure we had these things and it seemed fine.
Today however, we are cautioned not to use traditional candles in the home because they are a fire hazard. Who would have thought? Of course we know logically that there is a problem with candles but we don't think about it.
This is kind of taking the fun away from everything - you know, it's like having to wear a helmet when you ride a bicycle. We never had to wear a helmet or knee pads, our playground was concrete and we had hot metal on our Easy Bake Ovens. No one worried about us.
Alas though, we have to fall into convention and remember that fire can hurt you. Yes, it can, when you are not careful. As you know, traditional candles can fall over, be knocked over or the wax can melt all over the able and onto the floor.
So what can we do if we want to create a romantic space or create an area for meditation? Is there an alternative? Of course there is! You can now purchase flameless alternatives that are better to use than candles with flame.
Some of the alternatives you can buy are:
1. Battery operated - these are great because they look just like a real candle. They have the glow and some have a fake wick. From across the room you will never know the difference.
2. LED Electric -- these are
lug in and some actually flicker. You don't have to worry about these as long as your lights are on. In an emergency, it's better to use your battery operated candles.
3. Wax Melts -- with these you don't have to worry about a flame because you are more interested in giving a scent to your room. These require a device called a Tart Warmer and the way it works is; you break a part of the wax melt off and sit it in the Tart Warmer. The Warmer melts the wax and you get instant scent throughout your home.
4. Wax Crumbles -- these work the same way as wax melts, but they are just a different shape. These are like potpourri of the old days and instead of flower pedals you have wax crumbles. You put these into a Tart Warmer as well.
You can find flameless candles in a variety of shapes just like you can in traditional candles. You will find pillars, hearts, votive, squares and more. And in case you are wondering, they are made out of real wax so everything is the same except the flame.
The flameless candles come in a variety of colors and styles so you won't miss anything if you had a particular style you liked in traditional candles. If you want richly scented candles, you can also find a variety in the flameless types.
