Home Security Motion Sensor - Important?

Is a home security motion sensor important?

Picture this.  A burglar is sitting in his car a half-a-block from your home.  He is waiting for you to leave. 

7 p.m.  You leave your home to run to Wal-Mart for 15 or 20 minutes, because you need some milk and bread.  You question whether you should arm your home security system, because you'll be "right back".  But you go ahead and set it.  (Wise move -- you would be amazed what an experienced burglar can do in even 5 minutes!)

7:05 p.m. The burglar who has been watching your home is in your home!  He knew from the sign in your yard that you have a security system, but he looked quickly through the windows and couldn't see a motion sensor.  He's good at spotting them.  So he took a risk, found an unlocked window, and crawled in.  (You forgot to lock that window after you opened it for a little breeze earlier.)

7:10 p.m.  The burglar is gone from your home.  He has completely gone through every room in your home.  He works fast, and he knows the normal places to get good stuff.  He has your best jewelry, a handgun from your bedroom end-table drawer, some cash you had "hidden", and a really nice watch that was sitting on the dresser. 

He has trashed the drawers in your bedrooms, kitchen, and den.  He had thrown all the books off your bookshelves.  Strewn items out of your refrigerator, and left your fridge door open.  Torn framed pictures off the walls.  These are favorite hiding places he's famili

r with. 

Oh, and as he left, he grabbed the spare house keys and car keys hanging by your back door, just in case they might come in handy for another day.

7:25 p.m.  You come home, park your car, disarm your burglar alarm with your handy key-fob because you have groceries in your arms, and walk into your "secure" home with the super-duper home security system.

8:25 p.m. The nice policeman who came to waste his and your time "investigating", concludes that there are no clues.  Surprise.

The policeman's last words to you: "If I were you, I would get a home security motion sensor."

Is a burglar alarm motion sensor important?  Only if you're broken into and burglarized.
