Home Security Tips - One Cheap Way to Avoid Home Burglary

Ask anyone who has been a victim of a home burglary or home invasion about the shear terror it inflicts upon a family, the helpless feeling of being violated in one's own home.

They are amongst the strongest feelings a person can have. Then there's the physical side- the side of loss of goods, the side of physical damage to the home, the side of possible physical harm to you and your family. It is an absolutely terrible experience.

Most home burglaries and home invasions occur because the bad guys have done their due diligence and determine that the target house is ripe for the pickin' as they say. They don't usually just pick any old house. They pick the ones that look the easiest to get into.

How do they make that determination? I can guarantee you they are not looking for a hard time. The average burglar spends less than three minutes in a house. They want to get in and out quickly.

They look for anything that will make their job of ripping you off easier. Signs for security companies, places to hide, habits of open doors and windows, and surveillance cameras are all on their checklist.

Closed Circuit Televisions (CCTV's) are one of the most effective ways to deter the bad guys. A sign that the property is protected with CCTV's is also a good deterrent.

Dummy surveillance cameras are a viable alternative to the much more expensive real thing. They have real camera housings and a flashing red LED light that make sit impossible to tell

from the real thing at a fraction of the cost.

That is one cheap way to protect your home from the ravages of burglary or home invasion. Another is to get a sign announcing that your property is protected with surveillance cameras.

The bad guys do look for things like that when they make a decision whose home to burgle. Let them pick someone else.
